Happy Valentine’s Day! Did you know that Valentine’s Day is the second most popular holiday in the United Sates? People love to share cards, boxes of chocolate, flowers, balloons or gifts with someone they love. How did this holiday about love and chocolate start?
Valentine Cards
- A Roman priest and prisoner named Valentine sent a letter to a girl he loved and signed it, “From your Valentine.”
- An English writer Geoffrey Chaucer wrote a famous love poem to his wife calling her, “My Gentle Valentine.”
Valentine Chocolate
- A British chocolate maker Richard Cadbury made the first heart shaped chocolates and sold them in heart shaped boxes.
- Now, people buy over one billion dollars of chocolate for Valentine’s Day!

- Text or call a loved one
- Make or buy a favorite treat
- Go out to dinner or make dinner
- Write a poem or a song
- Have a game night
- Try love song karaoke
- Do something nice for a loved one
