November is a month for giving thanks. It is a good reminder for us to let the people in our lives know that we are thankful for them. Giving thanks is returning the kindness, support, and love that we have been shown. It helps people to feel appreciated and makes their day a little brighter.
How do we start with showing people our gratitude for their help, kindness, and love?
Make a list of the special people in your life:
- Friends, Classmates and Teammates
- Family, Host Family and Coordinators
- Teachers, Tutors, Coaches or Music Directors
- Bus Drivers, School Staff and Club Leaders
- Church and Youth Group Leaders
Think how you feel when someone does something nice for you. Now, it is your turn to show that you noticed and are thankful for them.
Ideas to show you are thankful:
- Say, “Thank You!” or “I am grateful for your help.”
- Make a card or write a note saying why you are thankful
- Cook a favorite meal, snack or dessert for them
- Do an extra chore or help them without being asked
- Plan an activity and do something fun together
Remember, we can do thankful activities together with friends, host siblings, classmates or teammates. Get creative! Think of your own ideas to be a blessing to someone alone or as a group.
Have fun giving thanks and helping people smile!
