Host Families provide a room for their student with a desk for studying purposes and three meals a day. The host family also treats their student as a family member, including them in activities, excursions and household chores, etc.
Additional host family responsibilities include

- Assistance with transportation, shopping, etc.
- Helping students to adjust to American culture
- Care and support for the student
Student Responsibilities
- Interact and communicate with their host family
- Help the host family with light chores when asked
- Ask their host family for assistance when they need it
American Home Life International Responsibilities
AHLI is here to support both the host family and the student and to act as a mediator should a situation arise. Our Student Advisors and our Host Family Coordinator are available to assist students and host families in the adjustment process and throughout the course of the student’s stay in America.
Relationships
Many long lasting relationships have been built between host families and their students. Several host families have even visited their student in their home country, attended students’ weddings, graduations from college and continue to keep in touch with them.
