Our West Coast office is located in sunny Southern California, with locations in the Conejo Valley and the Antelope Valley. The Conejo Valley is near the beach and has mild weather year-round. The Antelope Valley is located in the Mojave Desert and is chilly in the winter and warm in the summer. Both locations are close to famous cities such as Los Angeles (1 hour), Hollywood (1 hour) and Disneyland (1.5 hours). This area is the movie capitol of the world and also offers many historical places to visit.
Life in An American Home
Students learn about American culture first hand by living with an American family. Many friendships have been developed between host families and their students.
Host families will house students and provide 3 meals a day, a room for sleeping and studying, assistance with transportation, care and support. Students are responsible for the purchase of personal items.
Differences in an American home
Family Pets: Many Americans have one or more pets in their home such as a cat, dog, birds, etc.
Family Meal Times: Families usually eat dinner together between 5-7 pm. Family discussions take place around the dinner table.
Evening activities: Some families spend the evening relaxing at home after a long day at work. Other families attend sports functions if their children are active in sports.
Weekends: Saturdays are usually spent working around the home, traveling or relaxing at home. Sundays are usually spent at church and resting at home in the afternoon.
Travel: The main mode of transport in America is a car; therefore, American families will drive to many places instead of taking a train or a bus. Driving 8-10 hours on vacation is normal.
California Lifestyle
Work
There are many large companies such as General Motors, Verizon and Dole Foods as well as small businesses located in the Conejo Valley. Many of the residents of the Conejo Valley are employed by these companies; therefore, the commute to work is not too far.
The Antelope Valley is home to agricultural families and business people. Many residents works of the Antelope Valley work for large companies such as NASA, Lockheed Martin and Edwards Airforce Base.
Transportation
Although many people commute by car, both the Conejo Valley and the Antelope Valley offer metrolink, commuter trains and bus services to its residents.
People
California is a multi cultural state, especially around the Los Angeles area where both the Conejo Valley and the Antelope Valley are located, therefore, most people are friendly and accepting of other cultures. 
Recreation
Many people enjoy spending time at the beaches, amusement parks and going to concerts. There are also hiking trails and outdoor activities available in both the Conejo and the Antelope Valleys.
Schools
AHLI students attend Christian or Private schools in the area. All schools provide excellent educational and extra curricular opportunities for students.
